HAIR RESTORATION
Hair loss is an all-too-common issue, affecting millions of men and women across the world. Hair loss has a number of different causes, and associated risk factors – the most common being hereditary.
Hair loss is medically known as alopecia areata, a condition where there is technically no cure for. However, despite their truly being no cure, using revolutionary new PRP technology we are able to drastically slow down the process, as well as help restore your hair to its former glory. Find out if PRP Hair Restoration is right for you.

What is PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Therapy?
PRP or platelet rich plasma therapy has become extremely popular in recent years, especially amongst your favorite celebrities, and entertainers. From Professional athletes like Kobe Bryant and his PRP knee procedure, to reality TV stars like Kim Kardashian and her famous PRP facial – PRP has become quite trendy of late. And now at Local Ann-Aesthetics, you can try it for yourself!

PRP therapy has been an amazing thing for the aesthetics community, allowing patients to achieve better skin, hair, and all-around health and wellness improvements. PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma, refers to a substance that promotes natural healing and cellular rejuvenation when injected into a specific treatment area. PRP is made from plasma, a component of your own blood that contains important, healing compounds known as ‘growth factors’ or proteins that help induce clotting of the blood, tissue regeneration, and cell division or cellular growth.

How Does PRP Hair Restoration Work?
As it does in other parts of the body, the PRP injection works to trigger growth of your own natural hair, using nothing else but your own plasma made from your own blood – a process that is 100% natural, and doesn’t use any harmful chemicals or dangerous compounds. Results have shown that PRP can not only trigger natural hair growth, but by increasing the blood supply to each hair follicle it is able to sustain it over time – increasing the health and thickness of each hair.

The proteins, stem cell growth factors, and additional blood circulation all help to stimulate the follicles to grow hair thicker and more plentiful. The compounds found within the platelet rich plasma solution include:

  • Platelet-Derived Growth Factor – PDGF, helps promote the growth of blood vessels, cell regeneration and in-turn the formation of new skin tissue.
  • Transforming Growth Factor-Beta – TGF-b, promotes the growth of the cellular matrix between our cells. Also, the metabolism of bone materials.
  • Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor – VEGF, promotes the formation of blood vessels.
  • Epidermal Growth Factor – EGF, promotes cellular growth and cellular differentiation; as well as blood vessel formation, and collagen production.
  • Fibroblast Growth Factor-2 – FGF-2, promotes growth of specialized cells and blood vessel formation.
  • Insulin Growth Factor – Regulates the physiology of almost every cell in the body.

PRP Hair Restoration Process
Depending on your specific needs and the level of hair loss, we will recommend 3-4 different PRP hair restoration sessions – likely a month or two apart. Once those initial appointments are done, you will likely need maintenance appointments, but that is dependent on your specific results.

We start by drawing your blood for the PRP sample, depending upon the size of the treatment area it can be varying amounts, it is placed within a centrifuge – a machine that spins liquid compound samples. It is then spun around at a high speed, in order to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the other components of the blood. The compounds will generally separate within 15 minutes or so, into 3 separate compounds:

  • Red Blood Cells
  • Platelet-Poor Plasma
  • Platelet-Rich Plasma

Once the plasma is separated, it is then prepped from injection into the desired treatment area or ‘bald spots’ along the scalp. The entire process, from start to finish will generally take under an hour to complete.

Results
Depending on your specific case, you should start seeing some small results within a few weeks. The treatment will restore the health of the hair follicles – causing new hair strands to grow back thicker, and stronger than they previously ever were. And old, thought to be dead, strands can even pop up as if they never left – bringing the follicle “back to life”.

Some patients may even want to get PRP therapy done if they have previously had hair transplants done. This can help to strengthen the tissue and improve the health of the follicles.
